Mrs. Cowley turned 50

Here is another fun impromptu video clip from Mrs. Cowley's 50th Birthday Party.

All the First Graders came to our room to give her 50 candy canes, so we invited them to sing a song with us.  Here is the last part of the song that I caught on video.

Special thanks to the Scherr family for the cake pops!

We Wish you a Merry Christmas

Due to some unexpected schedule changes on Friday, we had a few minutes before dismissal. As an experienced kindergarten teacher, I know you should never have 10 minutes of "spare" time on the last day of school before Christmas break.

So…we did one quick lesson on signing, We Wish you a Merry Christmas and made this recording for your viewing pleasure. There was only one recording with no editing.

P.S. Some of the children were already at After School Care.

There will be another post soon about our last week of school.

Second Week of Advent

Advent reminds us that God is present in the
everyday activities of our lives!

This video clip is not practiced, rehearsed, or edited.  It is just part of our morning routine
to sing about God and his actions in our sacred history and every day lives.

We typically learn a new song each week.

KinderKids Week 13

How can you give your child a little extra boost in reading
without giving up your time and money for tutors and worksheets?

Here is an example of a success story:

Just by using Superkids online games on a regular basis, this student went from a 77% on final consonants to 100%!!!
Almost every student in kindergarten needs some extra practice with final consonants and this is a quick and easy way to help them master this skill.

On Monday we went on a walk that re-enacted the story of Moses:

1. Burning Bush
2. Pharaoh and the Frogs
3. Crossing the Red Sea
4. Getting Water in the Desert
5. Collecting Manna in the Desert
6. Hunting for Quail

7. Ten Commandments

Kinderkids Week 12

New Superkids: Tic, Tac, and Toc

For Social Studies, we focused on the United States Flag

Below is a quick clip, we made in honor of Veteran's Day

We also studied Citizenship and Voting

Students got to vote for their favorite cookie
During math we tallied the votes and made a graph

The Winner was Chocolate Chip Cookies!

For science we studied frogs: lifecycle and habitat

In art class the students made ornaments to decorate trees at the Christmas Bazaar.

I hope you can come down to the Undercroft to see them.
